Co-President (Operations) 

The Seattle Institute of East Asian Medicine (SIEAM) is seeking an experienced clinician and educator with strong administrative skills to serve as Co-President (Operations).  This person will work collaboratively with the Co-President (Academics)  and existing staff and faculty to drive the strategic direction of  the school and provide leadership to advance SIEAM’s mission to “to train compassionate and effective practitioners of East Asian Medicine who can function independently and collaboratively in patient-centered care.”

SIEAM was established in 1994 as a small-by-design, full-time-only East Asian Medicine graduate school, currently offering two accredited degrees: Master of Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (MAcHM), and Doctor of Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (DAcHM).

SIEAM strives to achieve its mission through apprentice-style clinical experiences coupled with an integrated curriculum emphasizing case-based instruction, physical palpation skills, qigong practice, Chinese language instruction, and collaborative care experiences. Students practice a variety of approaches to East Asian medicine that engender awareness and respect for the validity of different healing traditions. This training allows graduates to develop their own unique approaches to the practice of this ancient medicine.

Key Organizational Responsibilities:

  • Co-lead the development and execution of SIEAM’s strategic plan and initiatives

  • Serve in a shared leadership capacity with the Academic Dean and as a member of the Academic Leadership Team

  • Oversee budget planning, fundraising, and fiscal management

  • Assist in ensuring academic programs and clinics continue to foster SIEAM’s mission

  • Serve as one of the representatives to the Board of Directors

*Since this is a shared leadership role, a final determination and additional responsibilities will be based on the interest and background of the candidate. 

Teaching Responsibilities

  • Serve as a faculty member and clinic supervisor (if applicable) with teaching load to be determined by interest, experience, and institutional need

Qualifications and Experience

  • Must be a licensed acupuncturist or other licensed allied healthcare professional with at least 10 years of clinical practice experience

  • Experience in non-profit, higher education, or a mission-driven organization 

  • Background in fiscal management and fundraising 

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Schedule built on a 4-day work week, mostly on-site with flexible work arrangements, as needed

  • Health insurance, including dental, and access to a Health Savings Account plan

  • Ability to have a faculty practice in SIEAM’s teaching clinic

  • Salary $80-100,000 annual DOE
