Topic: Racism in Healthcare & How CAM Providers are Uniquely Positioned
to Interrupt It

By considering the origins of medicine, how science has been shaped by
racism and the health consequences of structural racism, we lay a
foundation which will allows us to examine how present-day medicine
upholds racist practices. Whether through the utilization of racialized
biology, flawed research or blatant racial discrimination, patients of
color often experience harm when seeking medical help. This lens will
allow us to assess ways in which social determinants of health and the
physical, emotional, mental and spiritual ramifications of racism
(withstood both within and outside of the medical establishment), can be
addressed by health care practitioners utilizing Traditional Chinese
Medicine and alternative medicine.

Your donation is optional and tax deductible AND GOES DIRECTLY TO SUPPORT THE HEALTH EQUITY WORK OF THE TUBMAN CENTER.
