Mai Jing Essential Pulse Diagnosis with Jamie Hamilton
Mai Jing Essential Pulse Diagnosis with Jamie Hamilton
Many students of East Asian medicine struggle with the subtleties of pulse diagnosis. This two-day class draws from research into clinical application of the earliest text on pulse diagnosis, the Mai Jing (Classic of the Pulse/脈經). This highly interactive class will draw from Mr. Hamilton’s published text and will weave readings and analysis of Mai Jing source material with case studies, hands-on practice and demonstration.
The Mai Jing Essential Pulse Diagnosis technique gives a clear picture of the 8 principles, the 8 Extraordinary Vessels and the elemental imbalance (CF in 5 Element practice). Mr. Hamilton will also propose a solution to a perennial clinical problem with his unique charting method for keeping track of pulse qualities over multiple visits.
Students will find that the Mai Jing clarifies the position and character of the pulse in a way that allows for much clearer categorization of qualities many have already noticed. By gaining a greater confidence in pulse technique, textbook concepts will finally come to life and this crucial diagnostic tool will improve clinical results. This class will be excellent for those interested in engaging classical texts for application in the modern era.
